“Breathwork was like years of
therapy in one session.”
– Amy, London
If you are curious about what a Transformational Breath® one-to-one session involves and want to know more before you commit, then this is for you.
Here at Radiant Breathwork, we treat everyone as a unique individual, so it's essential that we find out as much as we can about you and what you are looking to get out of Breathwork before a session.
We will always have a discovery call with you first to allow you to ask questions about Transformational Breath® and for us to explore what you are looking for.
Once you have agreed to a session, we send a short questionnaire about your health to ensure we tailor the session to your needs.
After greeting you and helping you relax, if you have never had a session before, we will go through your health questionnaire, explain what Transformational Breath® is and a demo of how to do it.
Then, most importantly, you will be asked what you would like to gain from the session - what your intention is. Intention could be anything from improving your breathing, letting go of unwanted emotions, or simply feeling calmer.
Once the intention is agreed and all your questions answered, it's time to start the breathing session. Initially, we will get you to lie comfortably on a mat supported by pillows and blankets.
In your first session, you will have a detailed breath analysis to help you understand how your breath affects how you live. It will help you understand where you restrict your breath and what your breath pattern is. Everyone has a unique breathing pattern; through the sessions, we will work together to release the holding in your body to enable you to breathe more fully and reap the benefits of a freer breath pattern.
In the session, we use music to enhance the experience, it's particularly helpful in letting you connect with your body and feelings and let go of mental chatter.
As the session continues, we guide you to consciously connect your breath, so there are no gaps between inhaling and exhaling.
As you breathe, touch, similar to acupressure, is used to help restricted areas in your body release and open up your breathing. Also, spoken affirmations such as "It's safe to be in your body" and "It's safe to let go" support this process; you don't need to listen to them actively; just let them go into your unconscious.
As you go into the session and the breath opens up, feelings and shaking can arise in your body - this is a sign that the body is releasing stress, tension and trauma that has been stored up. As the emotion can be powerful, we guide you to stay with it and support its transformation and integration through toning - making a pure sound such as 'ah' and getting you to move your body to help the process.
After about 40-45 minutes, it's time to shift to the integration phase of the session, a quiet time where you can incorporate all that has come up for you.
At the end of the session, you will be gently guided back and given time to talk about your experience to help ground you.
We will give you some tips and advice on what to expect over the following 24-48 hours after the experience, and we will support you if you need to talk anything through.
We hope that's given you some insight into what happens in a session. We also want to reassure you that the process, while powerful, is safe and as highly qualified facilitators, we support you through each step of your personal breath session.
